New York Lattice QAL
Weeks 1 & 2Hello friends! I’ve been chatting up a storm with Sheridan over at Meraki Cotton about this Quilt Along (QAL) that we are doing! I realized I haven’t posted my progress pics very well, so I’m catching up for week 1 & 2!
Week one was for pulling fabric and cutting. It took me a minute to decide on fabric choices, mostly because Sheridan had the great idea of doing a patriotic quilt in beautiful reds and blues. I immediately wanted to steal her idea!! When I finally mentioned it to her, she graciously allowed me to piggy back off her success. And then she changed her color scheme. ??

Patriotic blues and reds
These are the fabrics I ended up choosing. I even made a run to Jewel’s Fabric Stash to beef up my selection of red fabric. I really didn’t have a lot of red. I usually buy lots of teals and corals, but no red. As I started cutting the fabric, I ended up omitting the very bottom red and white floral fabric. I just didn’t love it with the other vibrant reds I had chosen.

The fabric is all cut out!
After I got the fabric all cut out, I immediately started sewing! Partly because I was a week behind schedule, but mostly because I was so excited to see these blocks come together! I may or may not have stayed up until 2 am sewing. ? That means I already had fabric sewn to the focus prints by the time I remembered to snap a pic. ?
But let’s be honest for a sec. How often do you get time to yourself to sew, uninterrupted?? With four littles and a hubby in school, I don’t get nearly enough time! So those hours after bedtime were amazingly peaceful and blissful!!

This quilt is gonna be so gorgeous!
But I did get a pic of some of the other focus prints by some of my completed blocks at least!!
If anyone is looking to join in the fun with this QAL, you can get the pattern from Knot and Thread Designs. You can also follow along with all the other sewists on Instagram! Check out their beautiful photos using the hashtag #newyorklatticeqal.
I just have a few more blocks to sew up and then I’ll be ready for next week! We will be sewing up block two during week 3 – so if you want to join in you’ll be able catch up quick! I would love to hear how you are coming along with your quilts. Reach out and keep me posted!
